Thanks man. Most of the experienced guys who ride the same roads in my area all average 2600 to maybe 3600 miles on a rear tire. I thought this was just the average until hearing reviews like these
TheRaleighRocket Says:
Good review.
TheRaleighRocket Says:
You're not doing anything wrong, my dude. You're riding like a fuckin' man. Keep it upright and keep givin' 'em Hell.

I am just an average street rider. Not a racer. But thanks for the suggestion, I will experiment with air pressure some more.
Dragonstud Says:
your pressure is way to high...should be between 30 and 28 depending if you are racing or not
1475llama Says:
Thanks for your time... great vid. I appreciate the advice.

Tried a couple Sp. Tour tires on rear of SV, didn't like the tire spin and tail wagging on corner exits. What are those new Road 3's like, are they 2CT ? North Georgia roads are exciting =) wish they would do less " hot patching " and more repaving... Can't have everything, though. Right ?
1475llama Says:
Front and rear wear are pretty even. Fairly cool when I made the vids. 50-60 deg. Some evidence of cold shearing right now and a little tread tearing near the grooves. ball up in mid summer, though. Rear suspension question ? Probably. Extra preload as a bandaid to quicken turn - in ( by having less rear static sag ), and extra rebound damping due to the rough roads is probably causing the lipping ( rear only )
RedlineMS501 Says:
or you could just be riding the hell out of your poor tires - looks fun, even on a SV! Are your tires balling up? What is the air temp, hot pavement eats up tires. f your rear is wearing way faster than the front, maybe try a sport touring tire on the back. Stay n the same family like the pilot series and the profiles won't be that different. Leave the super sport on the front as it looks like you push the front a little - safety first eh.
RedlineMS501 Says:
awesome roads! I wish we had a few more like that near here. Are your front and rear wearing the same. If you are getting lips the problem could be in your suspension setup. Not much can be done about the front on the SV as I don't think there is much setup to be had there. Could it be that your rear suspension is too stiff and it's causing the rear to skp under deceleration and acceleration? You won't feel it, you'll just see it in the tire wear.
1475llama Says:
Not trying to pimp my video, honestly just looking for suggestions. I hear other riders in my area mention the coarse road surfaces. Could it have that much of an effect ?
1475llama Says:
North Georgia roads are silvery - gray and have more rock in them, maybe ? Look at my vid. sv650 Unicoi Mtn. FAIL to see the condition of the road surface. Gotta have a different camera mount before I can make a decent GSXR vid. But maybe thats why my tires go away so quick ?
1475llama Says:
The current ones on my bike aren't totally gone yet, I will post a little vid on my channel and show you. The leading edge of the groove is to the wear bar, and the trailing edge is lipped -up and still a little thicker. This is the furthest outside wear bar, all the rest are fully flush - front and rear. I would definitely get a warning ticket for slick tires right now....
RedlineMS501 Says:
your milage seems very low. Your rear pressure is about right. For street use, I usually run 36 - 38 rear and 38 - 40 front. I've seen street tires used exclusively at the track run at 32 psi and they last twice as long as yours are lasting. Are you sure yours are worn out? You should be able to find the wear bars, is your tread down to the wear bars?
1475llama Says:
The mileage/lifespan estimates i hear on the net always amaze me. I run 36psi rear and 32psi front cold pressures, and I have never gotten past 4800 Km. on any of the top brands of sportbike tire. I love Michelin Pilots, but see about 3200 Km. from them. And Dunlop, I have taken the grooves off the rear shoulders in under 1600 Km. I am serious, what am I doing wrong ??
450rider3000 Says:
This seems helpfull. I have had battle axe, Dunlop, and pirelli diablos and deamons. I wrecked with the first two and the pirellis always stuck. I think a review over average popularity is good cause diff road conditions can uyield diff results. Love pirellis though, just never had one slip on me even when my pegs grab road.

I've hear a LOT of bad things about that pirelli and most pirelli tires lately... I also looked up reviews for a bunch of the pirellis for my bike and they were all saying that that tire is absolutely terrible !
jefflowrock Says:
Totally agree with this setup, as I had tried both 2ct and rd 2, the road 2 front does not bite the road as hard and as the power 2ct under hard braking, it skided, I will never use a rd 2 for front anymore.
madfish70 Says:
i ride an 06 gsxr 1000, just the thing that it's a 3 layer compound (front, and 5 at the rear) it's already enough, the pure is 2 which i really don't like. a friend of mine 3 days ago jiust fitted a set of the 016 pro's, first day was on his knees already!
ZeroBoostBuick Says:
thank you for the advice... I will look for the 016 pro... by the way I ride a 2010 R6.
madfish70 Says:
go for bridgestone 016 pro (the latest) i have the pures and doesn't give that confidence bt 016 give me
