Good job....i don't think people realize how hard doing stuff like this is. Looks perfect.
RussellDiVittorio Says:
I am very impressed.
rangu66 Says:
lol yeah i know i couldnt do it but i bet i wouldn't do the worst job in the world
denttime Says:
Can't wait to see your results. Just keep in mind, when people are good at what they do.. they make their craft APPEAR easier then it really is. So good luck. :)
rangu66 Says:
meh after watching your video i can do this myself. seems easy
denttime Says:
Yes again you are right about many people doing PDR. Just like there are many doctors. But there are good doctors and bad ones. You might want the cheapest but my clients want the best. But you wouldn't know that. I bet your job is worthless too huh?
murf2222 Says:
There are throngs of guys doing this type of thing and you don't need 21 years experience to do it. If you can find some fool that thinks his only alternative is paint/bodywork to fix it then good for you but for those of us in and around the car business that know better, your price for that job is laughable.
denttime Says:
I guess you are a little jealous? By the way, it didn't take me 2 hours to make $225. It took me 21 years of experience. Food for thought...
murf2222 Says:
$225 for Two hours worth of work? And in what fantasy world do you think massaging sheet metal is worth OVER $100 an hour? There are doctors and other professional in this world that don't command $100 an hour!
aBrckintheWall Says:
Why would I buy a product from someone that keeps telling people they "don't know what they're talking about". That's no way to talk to a potential customer.
projectracerx Says:
it is kinda an apprehensive price, but i watched the whole video to the part where the guy said there was 3 dents. and the hard part about buying another used tank is you may not get the exact matching color scheme unless you wait and wait
hippyron Says:
Had a dent from a golf ball ,in the middle of the hood ,on my 2004 GMC Envoy, car was new ,had a guy use his tools to remove the dent,It's been years since the repair,NO chipping,No flaking,No signs of where the dent was.Utilitykiller is an Idiot !!
cptfunnypants Says:
That was awesome! Don't the tanks have a double wall? Just curious how the curved hook doesn't damage the inner wall at the beginning of the video. Not trying to bag on your process. Serious question as I've never seen anything like this before.
utilitykiller1972 Says:
Bla Bla Bla ,whatever...
sdsand32885 Says:
Haha dude your an idiot...PDR doesnt make paint flake...paint flakes because of improper PAINT techniques...I do pdr and paint/body. You have no idea what your talking about.
denttime Says:
LOL! Seriously? Like you have no clue what you are talking about do you? I have been doing PDR for over 20 years and I don't use chemicals, paint or sanding to remove dents. And you are telling the world PDR causes the paint to flake? You are making false statements based on what you don't know. Prove to me that PDR causes paint to flake after a successful dent removal. Please back up your statement.
utilitykiller1972 Says:
I have seen hoods of trucks and cars with PDR , 1-2 years later paint starts to flake off..Not sold on it,,unless you plan on selling it right away.
midnightfapper Says:
removing a dent, especially from something thick/strong like a gas tank requires a tremendous amount of skill. trust me on this one, i wrench on my own bikes and this definitely isn't a DIY project.
rcbasher101 Says:
or you could make this tool for less than 10 bucks
pittmeister Says:
Considering that you can always sell your dented gas tank, which there is a pretty decent market for. It really is expensive.
midnightfapper Says:
the lowest quote from a body shop for a couple dents on my tank was $320 cash under the table, and that's just with a coat of primer. $225 isn't bad considering you have the factory finish and don't have to go through the trouble of removing the tank, draining the gas, buying a used one on fleabay, etc.
denttime Says:
Your key word is "seems" high. It seems high only if you don't look online and check to see if you can find a tank the same color and same cost or lower? Which you can't. It baffles me when people insult my intelligence and skill, or even worse, their own. The amount of skill it takes to work a dent out is incredibly complex, especially on a tank. Cost is something you pay for, value is what you get.
illbeda Says:
That seems a little high,as in way to freaking high!
mishaparem Says:
sorry bro, body filler and paint including primer, base coat, and clear coat cost me under $200 to paint an entire rear bumper on a small sedan. The body work for this small dent is $10-$25 worth of material. Save some labor costs by removing and draining the gas tank yourself, and sanding off paint around the dent, then send it to a paint shop to get the rest done under $100.
gatorman22 Says:
Quality of the work looks good. Probably worth the money for the owner of that bike. Teardown/repair/prep/paint takes time and money - this goes much quicker and the owner won't need to worry about paint matching and downtime. Thanks for sharing.
