Oregon chains does recommend soaking the chain in oil before you install it.
smallengineshop Says:
You need a chain with the correct pitch and length bar. Check the chain manufacturers website for the correct chain. Oregon has a good chain application online for finding the correct chain. Stihl also manufactures chains.

Great vid, I have a small craftsman (older than yours) I bought a new chain but I think its the wrong chain, when I put it on and tighten it up it won't spin, I thought it was supposed to be 3/8 50 whatever that is, I got the saw free it had a rusty chain and bar, cleaned bar & it looked ok so I just bought the chain, any tips finding correct chain etc.?

Do you not soak the chain in oil to pre lube it first before you fit it? This is what i have always been told to do to stop premature wear on the chain
