I think that happens a lot, but the screen does serve an important purpose by keeping hot particles from blowing out of the exhaust, so it should be replaced or cleaned. Could be a bad combination if your using a blower on dry leaves without the spark arresting screen. Thanks for watching!

Always though it was a emission device I found it for the first time in the early to mid90s on a echo weedeater or blower just tossed it, it was a lot more difficult to get to wasnt downing that twice. Other landscaper just cut the plastic to get to the muffler
