Do you feel it? I mean i went through ever religion for years.... I was agnostic.. Nothing gave me a real feeling. But after reading the book of Mormon, I felt it... I do believe, but if you look at other Christian religions, they never feel it, just know it because the bible tells them. That's why I recently converted. Because I can feel it.

It wasn't his right or anybody elses right to allow it, God commanded Joseph to translate it and only he could do it. He was the only one given such a task, its simply a higher law brother.

Because angel Moroni told Joesph that if he showed the plates to anyone without permission that he would be destroyed

it was a commandment from God not to because the hearts of men can be tempted by the adversary. Gold was worth a lot and well imagine what someone would have done if they got a hold of them.

Can You rephrase the question? The plates were viewed by the physical eyes of eleven witnesses. And tho some fell away from the church, they never once denied that the plates were real, and absolutely beautiful to behold.

He didn't deny anyone from reading them...he was forbidden by the Lord to show anybody the plates, except the 11 witnesses discussed in the introduction of The Book of Mormon ....I've read it around 15 times myself , read it for yourself and learn of its truthfulness

I too was baptized a Roman Catholic yet I believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet & I've read the Book of Mormon & regard it as a true revelation. I feel that there are good things in all denominations that we can learn from. I am just putting trying to take these things & put them altogether. I am looking for a church that teaches what the Bible really says, versus the way men & women have interpreted it, cuz I believe that the Bible needn't be interpreted cuz it interprets itself.

Jospeh Smith actually allowed eleven other people view the golden plates. Their testimonies concerning the golden plates are in the first pages of the book of mormon. In Isaiah it explains that only a few people will be able to view it. It also explains that the book is sealed and God would now allow anyone else to see it. See Isaiah 29: 11-12. But to answer your question, God was the one that wouldn't let anyone else translate directly from the golden plates. Also see 2 Nephi 27: 6-11.

I wish they had left this movie alone. I loved the original and saw first hand the power that it could have on people investigating the church. I understand the removing of some of the scenes to shorten the film, but the addition of some of the dialogue bothers me. Having sat with non members in the Liberty Jail and listened to the those experiences there and in Richmond they have great power. The Richmond Guard talk and addition of the Hauns Mill info seems to take it over the top. Just my $.02
