What about brake pad fade and brake disc wear?
TheJGOV Says:
What a retarded video, is like one of those annoying news channels that have nothing to say. Your average driver is not looking for a "buying guide". This isn't a buying guide, STOP UNDERESTIMATING YOUR AUDIENCE.
sedative3145 Says:
I always buy used tires. I'm not paying $700 when I can pay $150
danf321 Says:
A lot of general information with no specific tire buying advice. At least tell us whether directional tires handle and perform better than Asymmetrical tires. We have no idea what kind of tires CR is testing through these tests.
jeepinspence Says:
That's why you have to buy the magazine. :)

a woman at the begginning should have been a warning to how this video about tires would go.
klink1983 Says:
Wow I wish we didn't use salt in Canada on our roads, its brutal for rust problems on a car. I have 1 set of summers and winters.....I am a firm believer that all seasons tires are junk and give drivers a false sense of confidence. A family friend who is a police officer finds all seasons tires cause more accidents in the winter. What tires do you run? Nokian?
hpiguy Says:
Actually you can tell a LOT about how a tire will perform by just looking at it. Size, compound, wear rating, siping, tread pattern, traction rating, warranty mileage, etc.

Jimpank90 Says:
Oh really, well here in nothern sweden where we don't use salt for the roads and just drive on the ice and snow, makes miracles on the slippery surface. An All season tyre in sweden is worthless, not much grip on ice and the rubber is to soft for the summer roads. The solucion, 1 set summer tires and 1 set wintertires.
lozoft9 Says:
@consumerreports Could you guys spell out exactly the problems with changing speed rating? My OEM tires were only "T" rated and not many performance tires have that rating. I'd like to understand exactly the risk I would be taking with a higher speed rating. Thanks.
StyrofoamNoise Says:
Wow 6 minutes of talking and they don't even tell us about the tire brands.
greenblob123 Says:

Agreed.
lockheed22 Says:
DO buy used tires...$20 and still 90% tread life left. Waaay better than paying new at $150 or up.

this video is nothing more than a sweet talk to entice you to subscribed their magazine "CONSUMER REPORT" the video tell you nothing but makes you worrying what you have in your car now. If they care to show you the video, they should also show you the rating of the test tires.
