]]> Open Engine Model A Ford 1929 Ford Model A Open Runner Engine Display. The first thing you will notice is that the engine is on it's side to give a semi-full view of it's moving parts. Next you will see the distributor has been moved upright to give a better view of the pistons and valves. The 4th cylinder is the only working part of the engine. Bearings and pistons are lubricated with grease and oil. Run times are short due to overheating. There is no cooling other than a few holes drilled into the waterjacket by the exhaust. Yes, I could have made it water-cooled, but it's the start-up that makes the show! Highlights: * The crankshaft is glass. The piston is glass. The counterweight that makes the wheel spin evenly is glass. Imagine that everything is made out of glass. * There are no sealants used. All is accomplished by a perfectly snug fit. The gap between the piston and its compartment is so small, that the water that condensates from the steam seals it shut! * Notice the elaborate excessive steam exhaust system next to the piston. * The piston is the most arduous part to make due to to extreme level of precision needed. Its parts have to be so accurate that no machinery is of use here. The piston and its cylinder must be hand sanded to perfection, and they are very likely to crack in the process! On average, three out of four crack.

As of January 2011, the railway consists of 12000 metres (39370 ft) of track in HO scale, divided into seven sections: Harz, the fictitious city of Knuffingen, the Alps and Austria, Hamburg, America, Scandinavia, and Switzerland. Of the 6400 square metres (68889 sq ft) of floorspace, the model takes 1150 m2 (12378 sq ft). By 2020, the exhibit is expected to have reached its final construction phase, including at least a total of ten sections in a model area of over 2300 m2 (24757 sq ft). The next section covering an airport opened in May 2011. The exhibit includes 890 trains made up of over 11000 carriages, 300000 lights, 215000 trees, and 200000 human figurines. The creators are planning to work on models of Italy and France after the airport section is completed. Possible future additions include Africa, England, or a futuristic landscape.

Just before 9.30 tonight, Sarah Murdoch announced the winner of "Australia's Next Top Model". Unfortunately, she read out the wrong name. While Kelsey Martinovich was celebrating winning a car, a New York modelling contract, a $25000 ad campaign, $20000 cash and the cover of a national magazine, Sarah Murdoch's drop jopped, she brought her hand to her mouth, started tearing-up and was left speechless. The coin-drop moment for Sarah Murdoch is at the 2'32" mark.
